This multi-phase water supply project spans the four southwestern regions of Burkina Faso, encompassing 16 small and medium-sized towns with a combined population of approximately 800,000. With a substantial investment of nearly 40 million Euros, this flagship initiative by the National Office for Water and Sanitation aims to provide round-the-clock water supply for the first time to the residents of Banfora, Bérégadougou, and Niangoloko, who have long endured inadequate water services.

The AEPA-4R project is poised to significantly enhance public health through improved access to clean water and accompanying measures designed to support sustainable water management practices. By ensuring reliable water supply, the project will also contribute to economic growth and foster peace and stability in the regions.

In addition to these benefits, the project has profound people-focused impacts. It will improve the quality of life for local communities by alleviating the daily struggles associated with water scarcity. Access to clean water will also empower residents, especially women and children, by reducing the time and effort spent on water collection, thereby enabling them to pursue education and other productive activities.
