The ambitious project aims to upgrade South Ukraine's power network, enhancing its capacity to integrate renewable energy sources such as solar and wind over the next 15 years. This initiative involves developing a comprehensive regional power network master plan, which assesses the potential for renewable energy integration and lays the groundwork for two priority investment packages.

By upgrading the power network to handle up to 750 kV, the project seeks to create a sustainable and resilient energy infrastructure that supports South Ukraine's transition to cleaner energy sources. The initiative not only promises to bolster energy security but also contributes to the broader goal of reducing carbon emissions and fostering environmental sustainability in the region.

Main Activities

  • Advanced grid modelling and strategic planning to ensure the network can accommodate increased renewable energy outputs
  • Analyses to evaluate regional renewable energy capacity
  • Design and implementation of technical and economic feasibility studies to guide future projects

Select Results

  • Demand forecast and generation expansion planning
  • Assess existing network planning & operation for solar/wind integration (grid code, load dispatch, control systems)
  • Network planning (110 kV+) for South Ukraine grid, including load flow, N-1, stability analysis & training
  • Establish a Geographical Information System (GIS)
  • Develop Master Plan with two priority investment packages
  • Prepare project documentation (master plan, system studies etc.)
