Capacity Building and Training
Capacity building for us is a locally-driven learning process for our clients in both public and private sectors, aimed at achieving key development goals through changes in socio-political, policy-related, and organisational factors.
We see capacity building occurring at three levels: individual (experience, knowledge, technical skills), organisational (internal policies, procedures, frameworks), and societal (government/firm strategies, legislation, power relations, social norms). To build sustainable capacity, we focus on both knowledge and technical aspects as well as ‘softer’ skills such as leadership, negotiations, networking, and communications.
We offer a custom mix of training and learning options, including practical training workshops, virtual training sessions, interactive coaching and mentoring, peer-to-peer exchanges and communities of practice, and a train-the-trainer approach to strengthen official training institutions.
Our tailored programmes enhance skills, knowledge, and institutional capabilities. Our training initiatives support effective project implementation, foster innovation, and build resilient communities equipped to tackle future challenges. Our services include workshops, seminars, and on-the-job training, covering a wide range of topics relevant to all GOPA sectors. We employ participatory and experiential learning methods to ensure that training is practical and impactful. By building local capacity and fostering a culture of continuous learning, we enable communities and organisations to drive sustainable development from within.
